10.2001 Nepal, Island Peak (6189)

From 30 September until 27 October 2001 I attended a 21 day trekking tour through the beautiful Mt Everest region of Nepal.
We started in Kathmandu from where a 9 hour bus trip brought us to Jiri. The trekking started here, led us first to Lukla and then we followed the main route to Namche Bazar. From there our route led us over Dengboche, Dingboche and Chunkung to the base camp of the Island Peak. After a wunderful climb to the Island Peak (6189m) with an unbelievable view, we hiked back to Namche Bazar. From there we finally reached Lukla where we said good bye to our porters and yaks. Yeti airline flew us back to Kathmandu. Below the map where the red line represents our trekking route. the darts mark the places where we stayed overnight.
